Some good graphics and observations. I think that pinterest will grow in scale by the largest percentage and become a social media mainstay. The site already has huge growth and users stay on the platform for long periods of time. It will be interesting to see how it has implications for marketing and advertising.

Tips for getting started with social media in communications and marketing:

1. Use privacy settings to manage your personal and professional social networking presence instead of creating multiple profiles.
2. Filter and curate content with tools like Google Reader and News Alerts, RSS feeds, Twitter lists, and Alltop.
3. Manage your presence using a 3rd party application like Hootsuite, bitly, Seesmic, or Tweetdeck to schedule content, juggle accounts, and measure analytics.
4. Connect and engage with brand ambassadors to extend the reach of your content and posts.
5. Don’t be afraid to try something that might not be an obvious win – some of the most successful social media campaigns were born out of wild ideas!
